Liam Rosenior left Hull City three weeks ago, so Acun Ilicali has plenty of time to find his replacement in the dugout at MKM Stadium.
The club’s former right back was fired from his position three days after the Tigers’ 1-0 loss to Plymouth Argyle on the final day of the season, which surprised many despite the team’s overall successful season and seventh-place finish.
However, a report from Sky Sports at 11:58 on the news outlet’s live transfer blog suggests that the managerial search in East Yorkshire may be coming to an end in the near future.
Naturally, the aforementioned information refers to the circumstances surrounding Tim Walter, the former head coach of Hamburg SV and VfB Stuttgart.
Several news outlets in Germany and England suggested the German’s name as a replacement early on. While details regarding his whereabouts and the status of the negotiations have been disclosed over time, it has now been revealed that the 48-year-old will be in the UK shortly to conclude negotiations with the Tigers management.
Tim Thornton, senior writer for Sky Sports, said: “Tim Walter is almost certain to take over as Hull City’s new head coach in the Championship.
“The German is expected in the UK to finalise the deal over the weekend.”
This occurs only days after Hull Live revealed that the club was hoping to wrap up the ongoing drama by this coming week. It now appears likely that this will happen, as both sides were deep in conversation and conducting their own due diligence.
Everyone connected to the club will only gain from Walter’s announcement that he will be in the nation to complete the transfer, as they can now proceed after weeks of uncertainty.
Weeks before the Championship campaign kicks off, Walter will have plenty of time to get ready for his first job outside of Germany thanks to the scheduling.
Without a question, Walter is taking over from a quality set of players who are more than ready to adjust to his aggressive yet progressive style of play both on and off the ball.
Supporters can now look forward to next season and see it as one where they can finally break into the top six and achieve their short-term goals, as talks have been held between the club and Manchester City regarding Liam Delap’s possible return to the team.
