BREAKING NEWS: Michigan is closely monitoring the Indiana transfer

Once Indiana wide receiver Donaven McCulley logged into the transfer portal, Michigan quickly became interested with him. On Nov. 28, the 6-5, 200-pound player entered the portal, and the Wolverines made an offer in less than a week.
The involvement of U-M is not surprising. There are a few slots open at the top of the depth chart, and McCully would most likely take one of them if he decides to join the Wolverines, given that Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson are both on their way out.

Before the 2022 season, McCully, who started out as a dual-threat quarterback for Indiana, made the permanent conversion to wide receiver. He has totaled 64 receptions for 844 yards and seven touchdowns over the past two seasons, with the majority of that output occurring in 2023. As a result, Michigan made the decision to participate, as did at least seven other universities, including South Carolina, UCLA, Penn State, and Nebraska.

With tight end AJ Barner and backup quarterback Jack Tuttle both former Hoosiers, Michigan clearly has a lot more to play for than those other teams. Regarding his transfer experience at Michigan, McCulley’s former teammate and fellow pass catcher had the following to say.

“If you’re looking for something that’s going to be easy and something that’s going to be given to you, then don’t come here,” Barner stated. “But if you’re looking for some place that, if you’re a tough kid that wants to be great at football, and wants to play at the next level and win a lot of football games, then this is the place for you.”

McCulley has two outstanding options to speak with regarding his former teammates if he wishes to determine whether Michigan is the right fit for him.
