According to a rumor, Marc Guehi, a transfer target for Liverpool, will fetch a price tag of more than £50 million from Crystal Palace.
Since joining Palace in 2021 for a fee of £18 million from Chelsea, the 23-year-old has grown into one of the better center backs in the Premier League and has almost 100 top flight outings under his belt.
Guehi’s total number of Eagles appearances might not rise much, though, as the nine-cap England international is reportedly set to be traded in the summer.
Palace is reportedly “compiling a list of centre-back targets” in front of the upcoming transfer window, which suggests they are getting ready for Guehi’s departure, according to the Telegraph.
With little over two years remaining on his deal, the former Swansea star gives the Eagles with their final opportunity to sell their asset for a high price this summer.
Along with Liverpool, the source suggests that Guehi may also be of interest to Arsenal, Manchester United, and Spurs. Palace, on the other hand, is reportedly holding out for a ‘club-record sale’.
The record transfer fee for the Selhurst Park club was set by Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s £50 million move to Manchester United in 2019, which set the precedent for Guehi’s summer transfer.
Guehi’s name has already been mentioned in relation to Liverpool. According to a report from last month, the defender was at the top of the Reds’ shopping list as they looked to add defensive depth before the summer.
The Ivory Coast-born player would rank among the top 10 most expensive defenders of all time with a move that cost that much, as well as among the top five highest prices Liverpool has ever paid for a player.
Anfield Watch is aware that Liverpool is prioritizing defense this summer and that they intend to sign at least one new center back.
