Background INFORMATION NEEDED TO HOST EVENTS
In order to sponsor an event for Curling Canada, an organization must notify Danny Lamoureux at Curling Canada’s national office in writing, clearly stating the event and year.

Brier (16-team Canadian Men’s Championship)
arena with 6,000 (minimum) seats and related spaces: One (1) building between 60,000 and 80,000 square feet. Curling Canada needs to be certain that the chosen location can support the tournament financially and that local and provincial governments will back it. Included is 75 hours of live television coverage.
The 16-team Canadian Women’s Championship, known as the Scotties Tournament of Hearts
3,500 minimum and 5,000 maximum seats in an arena with a 30,000 square foot attached building. Curling Canada needs to be certain that the chosen location can support the tournament financially and that local and provincial governments will back it. Included is 75 hours of live television coverage.
Men’s World Cup (13 teams)
arena with 6,000 (minimum)–10,000 (maximum) seats and related space
Other Occurrences
Four-person mixed teams (each with two men and two women; total of 14 teams)
Competition lasts for seven (7) days.
four (4) sheets of ice minimum;
twelve single hotel rooms and twenty-eight (28) double hotel rooms with two beds each;
banquet spaces that can hold between 250 and 300 guests;

Everest Canadian Senior Men’s & Women’s Championships: 14 men’s and 14 women’s teams competing in the 50+ age group
Competition lasts for seven (7) days.
six (6) sheets of ice minimum;
twelve(10) single hotel rooms and fifty-six(56) double hotel rooms (each with two beds);
300–400 persons can be accommodated in banquet facilities.

Championships for Under-21 Men’s and Women’s Teams (20 and under — 14 men’s and 14 women’s teams)
Time frame: nine days
Wheelchair Canada (10–14 teams)
Six (6) days of competition are the duration.

A minimum of 40–50 hotel rooms, of which 8 have complete roll-in restrooms and 8 have transfer benches.

University/College Championships (16 men’s and 16 women’s teams, ages 17 to 27)
Eight (8) sheets of ice required, plus one (1) arena with 500 seats minimum
A minimum of ninety-six hotel rooms
350–500 persons can be accommodated in banquet facilities.

Championship for Mixed Doubles (32 teams of two players)
Six (6) sheets of ice minimum, and at least one (1) venue with
Championships for Under-18 Boys & Girls (17 and under-21 men’s and women’s teams)
Competition lasts for seven (7) days.
Five (5) of the necessary eight (8) ice sheets must be located in an arena with at least 500 sets.

400–500 persons can be accommodated in banquet facilities.

Dates for submitting bids or indications of interest
The World Championships, Brier, the Tournament of Hearts, and the Canadian Curling Trials: For these four events, Curling Canada will receive yearly bids by April 30 each, up to 24 months before the event begins. By that day, if we haven’t heard from someone who is willing to host,

Five (5) of the necessary eight (8) ice sheets must be located in an arena with at least 500 sets.
