Just as it did under head coach Mike Norvell in Tallahassee, Florida State has been pummeling the transfer portal. According to 247Sports, they now have the third-best transfer class and have acquired a player who may be vital to repairing an offensive line that has suffered a number of key losses.
After three seasons with the Crimson, offensive lineman Jacob Rizy, a transfer from Harvard, confirmed his commitment to the Seminoles on Wednesday.
During his time in Massachusetts, Rizy was named to the New England Football Journal Second-Team All-New England, Bluebloods Second-Team All-Ivy League, Phil Steele Second-Team All-Ivy League, and Second-Team All-Ivy League. In 2023, he participated in eleven games as Aidan Borguet, the Ivy League’s leading rusher, was blocked. He still qualifies for two years, and according to PFF.com, he had an offensive grade of 74.6 in the previous season.
With Rizy entering the 2024 class, he becomes the third offensive lineman transferred. Alongside Richie Leonard IV (Florida) and Terrence Fergeson (Alabama) on the front lines will be the 6’5”, 305-pound senior lineman.
The product of Westport, Connecticut, is a versatile player who can swap between guard and center. Alex Atkins, the offensive coordinator, sees him as a good fit for creating a varied offensive line.
