The Miami Heat and Washington Wizards will play a regular-season NBA game in Mexico City.
On November 2, the Miami Heat and Washington Wizards will square off in a regular-season match in Mexico City.
Since 1992, the NBA has played 33 games in Mexico, the most of any nation outside of the US and Canada.
During the yearly “Dia de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) celebrations in Mexico, the game will be played.
NBA Mexico senior vice president and managing director Raul Zarraga stated, “Bringing the Heat and the Wizards to Mexico City next season in conjunction with ‘Dia de los Muertos’ will mark another special milestone in the NBA’s long history in Mexico.”
“The game and surrounding events will serve as the ultimate celebration of the NBA for fans in Mexico and across Latin America at a time when the momentum around basketball in the region is at an all-time high.”
Prior to now, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated that Mexico City will probably be taken into account for any league expansion.
