In a significant recruiting victory, the Ohio State Buckeyes have secured a commitment from five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., a standout in the 2026 class. Henry, who had offers from prominent programs including Louisville, Michigan, and Oklahoma, ultimately chose Ohio State, citing the program’s strong track record in developing elite receivers.
Henry’s commitment to Ohio State was first announced in July 2023, making him the first recruit in the 2026 class to pledge to the Buckeyes. He chose Ohio State over offers from Michigan, Tennessee, Penn State, Miami, USC, and Texas A&M, among others. Henry expressed his admiration for Ohio State’s wide receiver program, stating, “When I watch Ohio State, and I watch Marv, Jeremiah and stuff like that, I can see myself in that position.”
Henry’s commitment was reaffirmed in January 2025 when he canceled scheduled visits to Michigan, Alabama, and LSU, underscoring his dedication to Ohio State. He stated, “The other schools, I tell them, like, ‘Yeah, it’s going to be really hard to try and get me to flip, because it’s Ohio State.’ This is where I want to be.”
As of November 2024, Henry was ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the ESPN Jr. 300 update for the 2026 recruiting class, highlighting his exceptional talent and potential.
