Tennessee signed three-star cornerback Colin Brazzell to its 2024 recruiting class on Friday. The volunteers jumped into the race late, clearly after landing his brother Chris out of the Tulane transfer portal.
Brazzell is from Texas and attended Midland Legacy High School. The 6-2, 170-pound defensive back fits Tennessee’s mold, giving the Volunteers another long cornerback prospect to work with. According to On3, Brazzell is just outside the top 1,500 prospects in the country. He is ranked 141st in the state of Texas.
Other schools in the running for Brazzell were Colorado, Purdue, and Tulane. His recruitment clearly changed once his older brother, Chris, arrived in Knoxville.
According to On3, Brazzell joins Tennessee’s 12th-rated 2024 class. The Volunteers’ class of 2024 also includes four-star cornerback Kaleb Beasley, four-star athlete Boo Carter, three-star safety Marcus Goree, and three-star safety Edrees Farooq.
Following the season, Tennessee’s secondary suffered a major exodus, with six veterans hitting the portal to find new homes. The Volunteers will see a youth movement in the defensive backfield and will now have another long body to grow in the coming years.
