This season, Tagovailoa—the younger brother of NFL player Tua Tagovailoa—took the lead in yards passing for the Big Ten career. He made the decision to miss Maryland’s Music City Bowl game against Auburn.

He played for the Terrapins for four seasons in a row. Before moving to Maryland in 2019, he participated in five games for Alabama in 2019; however, one of those was the 2020 season, which was cut short due to the pandemic.

“I don’t think I have any years of eligibility left, do I?” Tagovailoa remarked in response to a November question about whether he was getting close to his last home game at Maryland. Yes, I believe that this must be the final one.

Tagovailoa set a single-season school record with 3,860 yards passing in 2021 and led the Terrapins to three straight bowl appearances.
