JUST IN : Fans Happy as Ladd McConkey Makes a Bold Decision to…

Despite being an underappreciated three-star prospect out of North Murray High School, Ladd McConkey made an instant impression on the Athens community. As a true freshman in 2021, Madd Ladd started seven games and caught 31 passes for 447 yards and five touchdowns. The coaches in the league selected him as a freshman All-SEC selection.

As a sophomore, he exceeded that total with 58 receptions for 762 yards and 7 touchdowns, good for second team All-SEC recognition. Despite having injuries as a junior, McConkey will always be remembered as one of the most well-liked players of the Kirby Smart era.

The news of McConkey’s resignation is not shocking. One of the top 5-7 receiving prospects in the 2024 draft, according to some, is him. McConkey has exceptional speed despite his unsatisfactory size. He should run the 40 at the Combine and record a great time, in my opinion.

This cycle, Kirby Smart and his team seemed to be hiring as though they would need to replace him. The Bulldogs return a plethora of options at wide receiver, led by Dillon Bell (29 receptions for 355 yards and two touchdowns), Rara Thomas (23 receptions for 383 yards), and second-leading receiver Dominic Lovett (54 grabs for 613 yards and four touchdowns). Additionally, Georgia got two transfer portal contributors: London Humphreys of Vanderbilt, whose staggering 19.95 yards per catch in 2023 makes him a strong contender to take over for McConkey, and Miami’s Colbie Young (47 grabs for 563 yards and 5 touchdowns).
