The Miami Hurricanes have lost a former top 100 recruit via the transfer portal.

Every season, the Miami Hurricanes appear to fall short. While there is a lot of potential heading into the season, the Hurricanes were unable to finish the season with a win in their bowl game. Following the loss, the program received further terrible news. Collins Acheampong, a former top 100 recruit, has expressed his intention to enter the transfer portal.

Collins Acheampong left the Miami Hurricanes.
Acheampong was in the 2023 class, meaning he will have four years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-8, 270-pound edge rusher was a top-100 recruit in the previous cycle. He selected the Hurricanes over Michigan, but he is now available again. Acheampong is likely transferring due to a lack of playing time. Despite being a highly rated prospect, he did not appear on the field in 2023. As an edge rusher is a valuable position in football, there will almost certainly be considerable competition for his services.

2024 Prospects.
Miami will attempt to reclaim the ACC title in 2024. The timetable appears to be good at first glance. They kick off the season against a Florida club that is thin on skill. Following that, the most important game will be against defending conference champion Florida State. The recruitment has been strong in the 2024 cycle, but the problem now will be to translate that into wins on the field. If the Hurricanes are unable to compete for the ACC, there will be many concerns about the coaching staff.

Can the Miami Hurricanes reclaim their place atop the college football world? After more than two decades, they are now optimistic that 2024 would be their year.
