Patrick Mahomes predicts Xavier Worthy will have a “big impact this season

The Kansas City Chiefs’ decision to choose receiver Xavier Worthy with the 28th overall pick appeared ideal because of his exceptional speed, which is essential to their passing game.

During the Chiefs’ 24-23 preseason loss to the Detroit Lions on Saturday, Worthy displayed some of his amazing acceleration and set a record for the NFL Combine with a 4.21 forty-yard dash.

Worthy caught three passes for 62 yards, including a touchdown catch of 22 yards.

“I think I’m growing more accustomed to the game tempo and becoming more at ease with it. Well said, Worthy. “I feel like I’m doing really good right now.”

Worthy is 5-foot-11 but only weighs 165 pounds, so it’s unclear if he can triumph in the pros despite press coverage. But he did find plenty of openings at Texas last season, as he caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns.

Since joining the team, Worthy has improved, and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is happy with that. He is certain that Worthy will contribute when his number is called this season.

Mahomes stated, “There are high expectations on him.” “In my opinion, he’s doing a fantastic job of building and building. He will, in my opinion, produce numerous plays with significant significance for us.”

Andy Reid, the head coach of the Chiefs, stated that once Worthy breaks through coverage, several defenders will cover him.

Reid remarked, “Occasionally, two people honor him.” “That’s a big thing.”

Mahomes agreed with Reid’s assessment. If a defense focuses too much attention on Worthy, other players will inevitably become vulnerable due to the attention he attracts.

“When you hit him over the top at that speed, the entire football field opens up,” Mahomes remarked.

The league’s finest quarterback, who plays for the Chiefs, suddenly has even more potent weaponry at his disposal. If Worthy’s play starts to remind people of Tyreek Hill’s Chiefs days, that wouldn’t be all that shocking. Quickness is deadly.
