Nick Raposo was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo after being obtained off waivers by the Toronto Blue Jays from the St. Louis Cardinals. The optioning of right-handed pitcher Paolo Espino to Triple-A Buffalo was another roster change. In order to create space on the roster for Ryan Yarbrough, a left-handed pitcher, this action was taken. In a recent trade for four-time Gold Glove outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, he was acquired by the Dodgers.
He has a batting average of.193 with the Memphis Redbirds this season along with seven home runs, 28 RBIs, and 15 walks. The Cardinals’ Triple-A minor league affiliation is this squad. Raposo was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on July 29. To make way for Shawn Armstrong, Tommy Pham, the designated hitter, and righty Erick Fedde, outfielder, this was done. On July 21, the Cardinals acquired Armstrong, a seasoned bullpen pitcher, from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Dylan Carlson. Raposo is a native of Johnston. His baseball career in high school and college showed greater promise, even though this season hasn’t been as good for him. He was actually a standout catcher at Johnston High School, and he continued to excel at Wheaton College when he played college baseball. After he signed a contract with the Cardinals in June 2020, his career took another upward turn.
Raposo is anticipated to make his Triple-A Buffalo debut prior to August 6. He was chosen player of the game with Memphis on April 26 of this season. Having options with catchers is comforting, especially since the Blue Jays traded Danny Jansen to the Boston Red Sox. Raposo is still a youthful man (26 years old), even though he needs improvement.
