Miami Heat sign Josh Christopher in a two-way deal

The Miami Heat defeated the Memphis Grizzlies to win the NBA 2K Summer League Tournament in Las Vegas on Monday night. Josh Christopher, who scored a team-high 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting and 6-of-10 from behind the arc, took home Finals MVP honors.

Christopher scored, grabbed four rebounds, stole three, and blocked two to help the Heat win 120-118 in overtime.

The Heat signed Josh Christopher to a two-way contract after his play. Christopher’s first NBA opportunity since his two-year tenure with the Rockets would come with the transaction.

Christopher began his career as a first-round choice (No. 24 overall) of the Rockets in 2021. The Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets’ G League club, were his main development team as Stephen Silas didn’t use him. He was drafted with Alepren Sengun, Usman Garuba, and Jalen Green.

Memphis acquired Christopher from the Rockets in July 2023. Christopher played for the Salt Lake City Stars and Sioux Falls Skyforce in 2023-24 after his September release.

Christopher averaged 6.9 points in 15.4 minutes in 138 games in Houston. He averaged 23.6 points in 33.6 minutes for the Vipers.
