Qatar’s Ismail Dawood finishes third in 400m hurdles at the London Diamond League

Ismail Dawood, a Qatari who is headed to the Olympics, finished third in the 400-meter hurdles at the London Diamond League race on Saturday.

Dawood beat his own record of 48 seconds with a time of 47.72 seconds, good for third place behind the sixth Diamond League victory of the season for Brazil’s Alison Dos Santos in six meetings.

After the race, Dawood remarked, “That was a huge PB [personal best] for me so I am very excited for Paris.”

“I truly believe I can make it to the finals, and I know I can succeed now that I can go there.” I’m really in the ideal place for the Olympics to be able to take this much off my personal best,” he continued.

Dawood trailed Jamaican Roshawn Clarke, who finished in second place with a time of 47.63.

Kyron McMaster scored 47.81 to finish fourth.

Dawood will compete in Paris with Abderrahman Samba, Abubaker Haydar, Bassem Humeida, and Ammar Ismail, among other Qatari track and field athletes.

Alongside Saif Mohammed and Shahad Mohammed, Mutaz Barshim was the top qualifier for the list.
