Dutch Sifan Hassan set to participate in four event in Paris

Per World Athletics’ entry lists released on Friday, Dutch athlete Sifan Hassan has qualified for four events at the Paris Games: the marathon, as well as the 1,500, 5,000, and 10,000 meters.

Before the Games begin on July 26, the two-time Olympic gold medallist may withdraw from any race. The official start lists won’t be made public until the evening of the Olympics.

However, three years after she competed in the 1,500, 5,000, and 10,000 meters in Tokyo, winning the longer distances but only placing third in the 1,500, track fans have taken notice of her lofty prospective agenda.

In 2023, she proved to be a deadly force in the marathon, taking first place in London and setting a record in Chicago with the second-fastest time ever recorded. Despite her poor fifth place performance in the 1,500 in the FBK Games last week, she expressed her lack of discouragement.

“This game never stops teaching. I wasn’t able to give it my all yesterday, but it just strengthened my resolve,” she posted on social media.
