JUST IN: Crystal Palace is vying to sign a newly crowned EFL champion Striker

Despite Leicester City’s return to the English Premier League, Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed doubts about his future at the King Power Stadium, according to Soccernet.ng.

The former Manchester City striker has only made 10 starts for the Foxes this season and hasn’t been in the lineup since Leicester’s game against Millwall.

Rumors have it that there was tension between the Nigerian player and his manager, Enzo Maresca, who allegedly told Iheanacho not to accept Nigeria’s invitation to the AFCON. Iheanacho ultimately disregarded the advice.

But the Foxes won the EFL Championship this past weekend, guaranteeing their spot in the Premier League once again after just a year away.

The two Nigerian players on the team, Wilfred Ndidi and Iheanacho, were questioned by Nabila Fash about their next course of action following their championship league victory in a video that Oma Akatugba uploaded.

Even though he was rumored to be leaving the East Midlands, Ndidi replied with joy to his rise to the Premier League.

He said, “I feel fantastic, I feel amazing,” and continued, “It’s [the English] Premier League, onward and upward.”

Iheanacho acknowledged his excitement and that he is still a player for Leicester City when he was asked about his feelings. However, he was unsure about what to do next.

“I feel wonderful and well. I’m ecstatic because it’s a huge accomplishment,” he remarked. He also expressed his concern about his future, adding, “I don’t know for now, [but] I’m still a Leicester [City] player,” before being cut off by his Ghanaian teammate Fatawu.

The contracts of Iheanacho and Ndidi with the Foxes are scheduled to expire at the end of the 2023–24 season, igniting discussions in the football community regarding whether Leicester will extend Iheanacho’s agreement considering his restricted playing time this year.

But as the summer transfer window draws near, the Super Eagles forward has apparently been linked to a move away from King Power, with Aston Villa and Crystal Palace reportedly fighting for his signing.
