After learning about Anthony Davis’ most recent injury on Sunday, Los Angeles Lakers supporters might be able to breathe easier.
Davis left the game on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, after just 12 minutes of play against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
With 25 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Davis slammed a putback to give the Lakers a 35-30 lead. As Davis stood up for the slam, Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson unintentionally struck him, aggravating Davis’s injury to his left eye. Davis was out for the remainder of the game after the play went without a foul being called.
Davis’s eye problem might not keep him out much, if at all. The big man for the Lakers is reportedly optimistic about suiting up for his team’s upcoming game against the Golden State Warriors.
Davis had a corneal abrasion during the most recent Lakers-Warriors game last month. Davis revealed all the gory details of his eye problem.
Davis didn’t miss any games the first time around despite the horrific injury.
With three games remaining in the season, Davis has participated in 74 games, falling barely short of his career high. Throughout the season, the Lakers star has had to cope with a few cuts and bruises. However, driven to overcome his reputation as an injury prone player, Davis has largely overcome any small setbacks.
It’s possible that Davis fell short of the ambitious target he set for himself before the season. However, he’s come a lot closer than the majority of his detractors probably thought.
