The Eagles will practice more this spring than in previous years since they have two new coordinators and different concepts to understand.
The Eagles will have a required minicamp this year in early June, after going without one for the previous two years.
All 32 NFL teams’ offseason schedules were made public by the NFL on Friday morning.
The Eagles’ off-season schedule is as follows:
Day one: April 15
OTAs: 20 May, 22–23 May 28, 30-31 May
Minicamp required: June 4-6
A rookie minicamp is scheduled by the Eagles following the draft and prior to OTAs.
The Eagles, who had just won the Super Bowl the previous season, had just six optional organized team activities (OTA) practices and skipped their required minicamp for the second consecutive year in 2023. This means that the spring program has been strengthened, which makes sense considering the offensive and defensive scheme modifications the Eagles will be making in 2024.
The Eagles now have just six (out of 10) OTA days, but they are among the teams in the NFL that have to attend mandatory camp. This spring, all 32 teams are expected to participate in a required minicamp.
Sirianni made a hint about these impending adjustments during the NFL’s annual meetings on Tuesday.
“Definitely adjustments. Everything is always evaluated, Sirianni stated. “You judge your culture in the same way that you evaluate a play. You assess not only your technique but also your method and approach to things. Your procedure is subject to change.
“An effective procedure is one that is continuously modified for the good of your group. I follow up with that after each phase that we complete. “Hey, how could we have handled this better?” And that is a question that is available to all of my coaches, our team’s leadership, and the individuals on our squad. In this case, how could we improve? What more could we have done there? Therefore, we will be making some adjustments to our practice.
Following a dismal 2023 campaign, the Eagles fired coordinators on both sides of the ball. Following that, Sirianni appointed Vic Fangio as the new defensive coordinator and Kellen Moore as the new offensive coordinator. The Eagles will have a lot of new players in addition to their new tactics, one of whom will be a center as Jason Kelce is retiring.
The NFL and NFLPA have a collective bargaining agreement that includes an obligatory minicamp, so it makes sense for the Eagles to take advantage of it. Up to the minicamp on June 4-6, the whole offseason is optional.
The Eagles will be idle after June 6 until the start of training camp, which is probably in late July.
